Both Xanthe version 20 and Xanthe's Echo version 8.  Took me a while to get both of them updated.  I did both sites to reflect myself now being a professional artist/designer.  So all of my old fan art has been deleted from the site.  But never fear, you can still see them via Mechadrake's fan art gallery, Deviantart, and SheezyArt.

But from here on out, Xanthe will solely be my online portfolio.  Hopefully this will get me some more work, oh boy do I need cash...  Well that's it for now, on the fly.

I Have Been...

music: Ace of Base - Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry

Somewhat and working like a dog.  I'm sorry that I wasn't able to post something on this blog, but I have been busy with either school, work, or professional work.

In speaking of professional work, I got lucky and was able to find employment with several different publishing labels.  I recently completed a children's book have a few more projects lined up with that client at the moment.  Hey things are finally looking up for me!

At the moment, the only thing that I have updated is my profile and the commission section of my site.  One I have some free time in between projects, I'll update my site with all of the projects that I have done this semester.  Until then, on the fly!

It Was Good While It Lasted...

music: La Roux - In for the Kill (Skream's Let's Get Ravey Remix)

Again.

The publishing company that I was apart of as there in-house cover artist iEnovel is going out of business.  It was a shitty week to being with and this is just the icing on the goddamn cake...  I'm hoping that I can find work again real soon if not then I can lose my professional standing for both Anime Expo and Comic Con...  If you want to purchase a copy of the sole cover that I did for iEnovel "A Rage of Duty" by Jack Adler you can still purchase it here:
If you want a copy of the book you have until 11:59pm this Thursday night to get it.  After that iEnovel is officially gone and all of the books are online for sale will be gone as well...  Also the original illustration that was used for the book is also on sale.  Please e-mail me at ladymaverick81@hotmail.com if you are interested in purchasing it.

At least it was cool while it lasted and I'm going through my "lean years" as an illustrator now and not after I finish college...  So onwards to the next publisher.  On the fly then.

I Can Give You...

Another reason why I hate people:

These people where there at Comic Con picketing and people just ignored them.  I betcha money that one of those picketers is going to get shot when they picket that funeral.  Sigh...and this is why I f-ing hate people and why to isolate myself in Wyoming and live out the rest of my days drawing book covers and other commissions for clients...  On the fly then.

True believers out there...  Proof that hard work pays off in the end:

My first professional cover to Jack Adler's "A Rage of Duty" is now available online as an ebook and the printed version will be available on Amazon.com soon.  With this under my belt and I can know call myself a professional artist and can say that I have drawn something and gotten paid for that and it want for either friends, family, or co-workers!  It makes up for the shitty day that I had a work.  On the fly!

As 2010...

music: The Goo Goo Dolls - Here Is Gone

Draws to a close, I'm sick again and have been for about a week starting Christmas Day...  Then again all I got for Christmas is a new cell phone and $50 in cash.  So I have been home online and reading all of my Ebooks that I have on my hard drive.

So as I reflect on 2010 it seems that being alone isn't all that bad and rather one of the best decisions that I have made so far in my life.  Things are looking up for me professionally as I'm now the sole in-house cover artist for iEnovel Bookstores.  Thanks to them I was able to get into Pacific Media Expo as a professional for free and open the door for me to speak at Anime Conji and into getting into any other convention as a professional.

As 2011 rolls in, I'm looking forward into getting a bigger paycheck from drawing and welcoming the load as a professional artist.  It also seems that it's more and more possible that I can spend the rest of my days in solitude.  So here's to a successful and happy new year and hopefully trouble and drama free.  On the fly then!

Finally!

music: frou frou - Hear Me Out

The semester is finally damn over!  This semester was truly a royal pain in the fucking ass!  I have at least another 3+ semesters to go until I can get my A.A. in art and the real fun starts when I find a damn university to transfer to!

I did manage to upload all of of my projects that I did for this semester, as well as some my professional works as well.  At least I can get some sleep now and catch up on some work that has been starting to pile up in my room.  I can also work on now on my professional projects without school getting in the way.  At least until the end of January.  That's it for now, on the fly then!

Thanksgiving and what to I have to be thankful for?  Nothing really, I'm have my wits still no?

Well, at least I'm somewhat on track with my projects.  I have a lot of stuff on my plate and still broke.  I'm currently waiting for my next assignment from my employer and I'm going to spend the entire weekend either rendering, drawing or painting.

Ah such is the life of an artist, I enjoy it so much.  Other than that on the fly and Happy Thanksgiving.

Little over the a month to go before the semester is over, I need to complete the a rendering in Acrylic for Rendering, three "master copy" illustrations for Illustration III and what ever assignment that my Head Drawing class throws at me.

If your wondering about those projects, I'm the chick in the Rendering class who's doing the Eric Northman render.  Yeah, I'm doing a render of  Alexander Skarsgård, I must say it's a bitch.  Rendering in Acryllic is kinda like drawing, only with a super dry brush and about three and a half months of patience.  Fuck the graphic render of the model and of Eric weren't  that bad and both side-by-side took me the best of two fucking weeks!  Hell, True Blood is still my muse for this semester and I'm going to pick up those comics when I bloody get the chance to sit down and fucking read something that isn't for a book cover, school or work!

With my Illustration III class, I'm doing a "master copy" series of illustrator Yoshitaka Amano.  That is a challenge in itself, the man uses from what I'm guessing it's Acrylic paint watered down to the point of watercolor and superfine pens.  I have done two so far and finishing up the third one.  After doing this, I respect his style and it's a bitch to copy...

Also, I have been so damn busy that I haven't nearly forgotten that I'm going to PMX next week.  I'm rather looking forward to this trip, even though that my mother says it's a waste of money.  It's a chance for me to get out of the house for a few days and away from family, school and work.  It lets me recharge my batteries and lets me come back to class refreshed and inspired.  I'm waiting until the end of the semester to post up the rest of my projects.  Now back to working on my "homework" for Head Drawing, a simple portrait done.  On the fly then.
