PMX 2006
I just got back from PMX 2006. I had a grand time and before I pass out from lack of sleep, I'll tell you about it.
Saturday
I got up at 5am, I only had four hours of sleep. I would have gotten more, if my mother didn't wash the clothes on Friday. So I had to spent an extra three hours washing my clothes that I need for the convention. As a result I went to bed at 1am. So I get up, take a shower and went outside to wait for my friends. At 6am, we left with the warm sun rising and us listening to an anime mix CD that I burned the night before. It was a smooth ride...
Until a rock came from the car that was in front hit the windshield of the van that my boyfriend was borrowing...
Scared the crap out of all of us. No one was hurt, but it caught us off guard. So we managed to get the license plate number and made a few calls. So after that we made it in one peace. We checked in and after loading our stuff in the rooms, had a late breakfast at the local Denny's that was a block away from the hotel.
After breakfast, our roomies Christan and Matthew wanted to take some R&R and Ricardo needed to get a few things. I wanted to hit the dealer's room so we split up and I did a little recon. The dealer's room at PMX was tiny, nothing grand comparing to AX and Comic Con. But the prices for manga was dirt cheap. I picked up six mangas for about $30. After and hour or so, I got a call from Ricardo saying that he wanted to meet up with me back at the room. So with my new mangas in tow, I headed up to the room and dumped my stuff and took a little nap in the room.
An hour later, I was up and ready to see the sights. So with Ricardo with me, I hit the dealer's room and watched him blow about $200 in an hour. He got about 10 mangas and 7 DVDs all half price or 20% off. So we looked around the convention, until I got a call from one of our roomies who said that they were hungry. So we at the Carl's Jr. that was right next door to the convention.
After dinner, our roomies wanted to go to sleep because they didn't get any the night before. So me and Ricardo left to the anime veiwing rooms and watched anime until 10pm. I was tired and so was he and went to our room and called it a night.
Sunday
Getting up at 5am, 'cause it was daylight savings time and that screwed our internal clocks. We got up, packed up as much as we could and headed out for some breakfast at Denny's. After breakfast we loaded as our stuff into the van. I hit the dealer's room once again. I got lucky and picked up managed to pick up "Death Note" vols. 2-5. After looking around the convention, we had lunch at the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut Express and I don't want to eat there ever again...
Around 5pm or so we waited in line to see the UchuSentai NOIZ concert and ended up with the best seats in the house. It was rather amusing to watch the mosh pit from a distance. I kinda felt sorry for the staff who had to stand and keep them at bay. When the UchuSentai NOIZ concert ended, I got to see MECHANiCAL PANDA and there set was rather short. Then the final concert was the Random Ninjas. That was the high of the convention for me. There set was awesome and did a kick ass cover to HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR's "Ichirin no Hana" and Linkin Park's "Feint". When the concert was over we headed home, which was a rather smooth ride. So I got home around midnight and I didn't get up until 1:30pm today. So that ends my adventures at Pacific Media Expo 2006. If you guys were woundering here's what I got.
- Slayer Special: Lesser of Two Evils
- Bleach vol. 7
- Aline Nine vols. 1-3 and Alien Nine Emulators
- The Wanderer vols. 1-2
- Death Note vols. 2-5
- Aquarium
- Several bookmarkers
- Several cell phone charms
Not a bad haul for a 2 day convention. Ricardo blew $300 on several DVDs and mangas. Other than that, I had a good time with him. So did he, it was fun spending the night at a five star hotel. I hope to do that again at Anime Los Angeles in January. Well that's it for now, on the fly then!
